I just opened the EAC Gila Gram. "Larry! You've gone before us and knowing you, I believe your tenacity has already landed you an in person interview as promised with the Lord."
I too worked side by side with Larry in the EAC journalism department. I too considered him a good friend and have great respect for his stick-to-itiveness and persistence .
I knew Larry before, during, and after his conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I remember with a smile that he fought a good fight against it's teachings until he knew for himself. Then abruptly, with an about-face, he reversed his course with the same assertiveness yet changed eternally by a kinder, gentler understanding for this new found faith . I have the utmost respect for his conversion process. It remains vivid in my memory. Because of his experience, it has been a light for me to patiently wait for others to learn for themselves. I have a profound gratitude for his mentorship in the journalism department. My best regards and prayers for his family. Thank you for sharing the video.
God Be With you Larry, until we meet again.
Warmly,
Karen Stephenson Howard

I also just learned of Larry's passing from the EAC GilaGram. Larry and I were both in the journalism department and I considered him a good friend and professional colleague. I enjoyed reading his work while he was editor of the Courier and my parents who remained in the Gila Valley spoke highly of him. My deepest sympathies to his family.

I just learned of Larry's passing when I read about it in the Eastern Arizona College Alumni Newsletter. I am very sad to hear he has passed. Although I haven't talked with him since I graduated from EA in 1980, I consider Larry one of my good friends from that time of our lives. We had many discussion about the gospel of Jesus Christ during that time and watching Larry learn about and then embrace the gospel has been one of the highlights of my life.
For years my family still living in the Gila Valley area kept me informed about what Larry was doing. But once you left that area, I lost track of him. I express my sincere condolences to his family. I enjoyed watching the video memorial of his life. Thank you for providing it.

I was his Grandson, when he died, it hit me hard. he was always a hard-working, loving grandfather, always sharing, giving love, and cheering up everyone! trust me, there is no one as sarcastic as him! every time my dad would talk with him on the phone, dad would say, ¨hey dad, it´s your favorite son.¨ and would reply, ¨Ryne, is that you?¨ so sarcastic. at work, everyone called him the sniper, because he would always stay low and come out with a good income. he was the best Grandfather a kid could ask for. we
all love you, Grandpa.
love,
Nathan Blaskey
