I just learned of Karla's passing. I had the privilege of working for her when she first became an attorney. When I moved to Tucson years later I was happily surprised to find her working in the Tucson community. Over the past 7 years we have run into each other a few times. She had a contagious smile and always made me laugh. I loved her dearly and she will be missed. Please give my condolences to her wife Diane, family and friends. She will be missed. <3
How do you gauge the loss of one who shined so brightly? The loss of Miss Karla will be felt here at Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) for years to come. It was a pleasure to have watched Karla grow from a High School student working after school in our Legal Department to clerking in our office during her undergrad years at Stanford. It was only natural that she would choose to go to law school and excel as an attorney. I had the pleasure of placing the call to ask her if she was interested in serving as a Justice of the CRIT Court of Appeals, where she would later become our Chief Justice. Chief Justice Karla Starr served her Tribe honorably and we were so proud of her accomplished career. My heartfelt condolences to her wife Diana, her family, friends, and all who knew and loved this amazing woman. Rest in Power Miss Karla - we miss you dearly.
Karla was a defense attorney; I am a plaintiff’s attorney. Each time I saw her name assigned to a case I would feel relief. She was fair, yet represented her clients well. I never had to worry about her treatment of my clients even though we were adversaries as she treated them with kindness and respect. She will be greatly missed in our community. My deep condolences and prayers to family and friends. I miss her.
I just discovered the sad and shocking news of Karla's passing. I served with Karla for a decade and half on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Court of Appeal and know that Karla was not only the consummate professional but a warm, caring, and wonderful person. We are all saddened by her loss but comforted by the many wonderful moments we shared together. My heart felt condolences go out to her wife, her family, the Colorado River Indian Tribes community and her many friends over loss of such a wonderful woman as Karla.
With a very heavy heart,
Karla was a bright light. We litigated a case against one another just a few days before she passed. She was smart, kind, professional, and always made an extra effort to be gentle in her treatment of people. She'll be missed in the legal community in Tucson. May her memory be a blessing to her wife and family.
Wow! I am shocked by this news. I attended Parker H.S. With Karla, class of 91. She was always so nice and extremely smart!!!! It sounds like she had a great life. I can’t imagine what her family is going through right now. Hugs to them all.

I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to all of Karla's loved ones, I pray God give you strength and comfort during this time of bereavement. May Karla's memory be celebrated and cherished always. We were childhood friends and classmates in Parker through the Eighth Grade.
Diane and family, so sorry to hear of your loss.
Karla and I were students at Parker High School, she a sophomore and I a senior. We had common interests, participating in band and sports. We were good friends and hung out during scholastic and athletic events. She was very friendly and a happy person to be around. She always stood up for anyone being mistreated and was welcoming new people into our group. I remember a time when she was on her own for a bit and always went to a local Mexican restaurant, ordering same dish that the waitstaff knew her order. Somewhat of goof, she liked to laugh and always had a smile for everyone she met. I miss her...

I can not fathom what you are going through. I offer sincere condolences to you and all family. My heart goes out to you and I wish you peace and strength through this difficult time.
