Obituary of James Stanton Kelley

James Stanton Kelley (74) of Tucson, AZ from Glens Falls, NY, hiked to the top of God’s Mountain after a 16 year long battle with cancer on Aug 12, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father Stanton Alexander Kelley and mother Mrytle Marjorie (Brown) Kelley. Jim is survived by his wife Angela Marie (Alu) Kelley, his sister Bonnie Jean (Kelley) White, 3 children to his previous marriage to Vicki Lynne (Green) Walther, those being Joy Lynne (Kelley) Shifflette of Tucson, Az; Heather Marie (Kelley) Barr of Tucson, Az; Brian James Kelley of Overland Park, KS; and 1 child from a previous relationship being Nicholas Petkovic of Destin FL, as well as 13 grandchildren. Jim graduated from Catalina HS in 1967. Jim was stationed in the Tucson Air National Guard where he served in the 162 Fighter Wing from 1968 to 1974. Jim worked as a Grocery Clerk for approximately 40 years between several different stores in the Tucson area, including Safeway, Reay’s Ranch Market, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods. Jim was proud of his hiking adventures and the number of miles he hiked to several of the major peaks and trails in the southwest, United States. Jim was also proud to receive his certification as a Naturalist with the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Park Rangers. His love of nature, photography, hiking and Jeeping will be an inspiration to his family and others for generations to come. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his name.
