Obituary of Kathleen Emily Shallue
Kathleen Emily Shallue, age 82, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Pacifica Care Center in Tucson, AZ, of complications from dementia. She was born June 13, 1941, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the oldest of four children to John and Loretta (Kozlovsky) Shallue.
Kathleen was a high school graduate of Holy Family Academy at Silver Lake Wisconsin and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College (Silver Lake College) in Elementary Education. She held Masters' credits from St Thomas, Marquette, Edgewood and Silver Lake colleges and a lifetime teaching certificate from the State of Wisconsin. After taking her Profession with the Franciscans, Kathleen taught and held various positions, including principalship, in Catholic schools in Green Bay, Clintonville and Seymour.
In 1980 her life took a different direction, and Kathleen moved to Littleton, CO. There she worked for Frontier Airline Credit Union and Trust Company of America (now part of Gemisys Financial Services), She was proud of the fact that she was the seventh person hired at the Trust Company, which grew to become a large financial service company. Retiring in 2009, Kathleen moved to Tucson, AZ, to live near her brother, because that she had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia.
Kathleen enjoyed traveling, taking three trips to Hawaii and a trip-of-a-lifetime to Ireland, where she visited relatives and saw the Shallue ancestral lands. She also enjoyed crafts and working in the yard of her Colorado home. When her mother retired, Kathleen graciously opened her home and cared for her until she passed away. Kathleen had a fondness for dogs, and over the years rescued Cinnamon, Coco, Corky and Tigger.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her father John, her mother Loretta, and her sister Patricia. She is survived by her brother John Shallue (Marilyn) of Tucson, AZ; sister Judith Wittkopf (Thomas) of Wausau, WI; niece Kristin Ruprecht (John) and their sons Nathan and Emanual, of Madison, WI, several cousins and life-long friends. A Celebration of Life will be held in Manitowoc, WI in September.
