Obituary of Daniel Lee Gibbs

Daniel "Uncle Dan" Gibbs, age 45, passed away in his home on October 7th, 2022 in Tucson, AZ. He was born on June 27th, 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska. Dan was the youngest son of James and Nancy Gibbs. 

Dan moved to Tucson in 1989 with his family and attended Secrist Middle School, where he made many friends that would go on to be by his side throughout his life. Dan went to Santa Rita High School and graduated in 1996 and began a career in sales where he excelled in every position he held. His charming, charismatic, upbeat and extremely caring personality led to success and opportunity. Dan advanced his education with degrees in Avionics Electronics and UAV Maintenance from Cochise Community College. As a Department of Defense Contractor with Raytheon, Dan earned his Lean Six Sigma Certification. He had a passion for his work in sales and he served the Tucson community for 25 years with multiple companies in multiple industries.

Dan was very adventurous, living life to the fullest and he was always up for challenges. Spur of the moment trips and activities were one of his passions. Dan loved outdoor activities to include: hiking, 4 wheeling, camping, kayaking and off roading. Dan was extremely passionate about the sport of disc golf. Disc golf was more than a hobby for Dan. He not only embraced the sport and community; he was an ambassador for the sport and improving the experience for everyone. He organized and hosted many events in Tucson that have become annual events and will be carried forward in his name. He loved everything about disc golf and he was cherished and respected by the disc golf community. 

Dan loved at every turn and everyone he came in contact with, and he loved family most of all. Dan was devoted to his nieces and nephews, never having children of his own. He absolutely adored them and the feelings were mutual. "Uncle Dan" never missed an opportunity to show up for his nieces and nephews any time they called or at any event he was invited to. His family scroll tattoo just below his shoulder, with all their birthdays, was a small reminder of the importance of them in his life. 

Dan is survived by his father, James Gibbs, brother Steve and Ramie Gibbs, James Gibbs, nephews Brandon Gibbs, Trevyn Gibbs, James Gibbs and nieces Kaylie Gibbs and Kyly Gibbs. Dan was predeceased by his mother, Nancy Gibbs. 
Services will be held Thursday November 3rd at 3:00 PM and Celebration of Life to follow at Groves Park 7400 E Juniper Dr. Tucson, AZ 85730
