Obituary of Martha Carrillo

Martha Yolanda "Yolie" Carrillo Martha Yolanda "Yolie" Carrillo passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved children and sisters, after a sudden illness on Monday May 18th, 2015, at the age of 71. She was born on March 25th, 1944, in Tucson, AZ and went to Safford Elementary School. At the age of 8 she moved to Los Angeles with her parents and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1962. She spent the next 11 years living in both L.A and Tucson until 1973, when Michael and her moved back to Tucson for good and started their family. Yolie loved everyone and made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed working as a bank teller, where she was able to meet and speak to new people daily, but what gave her the most joy, was working as a teacher's aid and monitor from 1986 - 2003 at Kellond Elementary School. She adored all her "Kellond Kids" as they did her. Upon Michael's retirement in 2005, they enjoyed spending the summers on the Oregon Coastline and returning to Tucson in the winter, to be with family and friends. Yolie loved then spending time with her five grandchildren Dominic, Mikayla, Jacob, Alessandra, and Maximus "Baby Max". Yolie, mom, nana, sister we miss you beyond words, love you to the moon and back, until we see you again…forever in our hearts. Yolie leaves behind her daughters Monique Carrillo, Nicole (Freddie) Santa Cruz; her sons Jason and Damien (Margaret) Carrillo; her sisters Grace (Nano) De la Torre and Gloria (Fred) Bernardini; Her five grandchildren, Dominic, Mikayla, Jacob, Alessandra, and Maximus (Baby Max). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustine and Elvira Villaseñor; sisters Cruzita, Elvira, and Bea; brothers Aggie, Ruben, Rudy, Armando, Hector, and Alex. Visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 2015, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 215 S Craycroft Rd, with a Rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. and Mass 5:00 p.m., and Celebration of Life following at St Joseph's Healy Hall.
