Obituary of Thomas Lee Terry
Thomas "Tom" L. Terry, age 84 of Tucson, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 25, 2015.
Born in Aurora, Illinois to Mike and Mabel (Hill) Terry, Tom graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago and attended two years at the American Academy of Art in Chicago after high school. He married Arlene Thomas in 1950. The Lord called him into the ministry and he graduated from the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1965.
Tom fell in love with the Southwest after he and Arlene honeymooned at a dude ranch in Benson and in 1969 he moved to Tucson.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane (Bill) Cunningham and grandson, Ryan (Phoebe) Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Arlene.
Tom served in the United States Air Force, worked in Chicago as a commercial artist, started churches in Illinois and California and pastored several churches in Tucson. He served as Camp Director for ten years at Huachuca Oaks Baptist Camp in Sierra Vista where he was affectionately known as "Sheriff Tumbleweed".
A memorial service will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
