Obituary of Edward Ross

Edward Ross was born in 1925 to Walter and Blanche in Norwalk, CA. After the death of his father and his mother's remarriage to George Ross in the 1920's he settled in Phoenix, Arizona where he would live most of his life. In 1943, Ed enlisted as an Apprentice Seaman in the U.S. Coast Guard, later becoming an Electrician's Mate. He served honorably in the American Campaign to expel the Japanese and protect the Aleutian Islands until the end of World War II. In April, 1947 he married his childhood sweetheart, Fern Thomas. They had four children, two sons and two daughters. Ed became a licensed Mortician and Funeral Director in 1948. He was nominated to the Arizona State Board of Funeral Directors in 1965. For fifty years, until his retirement at the age of 80, he supported and comforted myriad families in their hour of need throughout the Phoenix Metro Area. Ed and Fern retired to Tucson to be close to their daughters in 2010. He passed away on August 21, 2015 from complications of Alzheimers. He is preceded in death by his sister Elva. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, four children, Barbara, George, David and Susan; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
