Obituary of Virginia Kolb

Virginia (Gini) Kolb Virginia Kolb, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her daughter's home in Tucson, AZ, surrounded by family, on what would have been her husband's 90th birthday. Gini was born on October 17, 1924 in Holyoke, MA. She married the late Albert Kolb on January 3, 1948 in Hamden, CT. Gini and Al moved to Tucson in 1985. Gini received her nursing degree in 1946 from W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MI. She worked at Yale New Haven Hospital and St. Raphael Hospital from 1950 to 1980 and was the head nurse in the Emergency Department. She was also a nurse at Marlin Firearms in New Haven, CT from 1980 to 1985. Gini worked as an Industrial nurse at IBM, TEPCO, Lear Jet, as well as Fenster School, and retired from nursing in 1996. After retiring from nursing, she continued caring for people in so many ways. She had a huge heart and was kind and compassionate. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gini is also preceded in death by her sister Bessie McCoy and her brother Arthur Raptis. She is survived by her daughter Debra (Doug) Jones and her son Jeffrey Kolb (fiancé Teresa) of Tucson, AZ. She is survived by two grandsons Jason (Dominica) Costello of West Newbury, MA and JJ Kolb of Las Vegas, NV, as well as two great grandchildren Danielle and Maisie Costello of West Newbury, MA. She always loved the family pets. She loved to read and her favorite flower was a rose. She was proud of her Greek heritage. She was the root under our feet so we could flourish and blossom. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 2pm at the home of her daughter, 5352 S. Saguaro Springs in Tucson, AZ.
