Obituary of Henry S. Chavez

Henry S. Chavez, age 63, was welcomed by the Lord after a long struggle with his health on Friday, December 18, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona. Henry was born in Tucson to Henry and Angelina Chavez and was the first son, and the second of three children. Henry is survived by his mother, Angelina Chavez, his sister, Dianna Chavez and his brother, Larry Chavez (Julie Chavez). He leaves behind two nieces, Melissa Hernandez (Rocky Hernandez) and Annette Allen (Carlton Allen), one nephew, Stephen Chavez (Jackie Chavez) his great-nephews, A.J. Hernandez, Diego Hernandez and great-nieces Justine Chavez, Juliana Chavez. He is also survived by his special friends Angelica, Denise, Eddie, Michael and many other family and friends. At seven years old, Henry was first noticed for his amazing artistic talent when he drew a picture in class. In fact, his first grade teacher was so impressed with his drawing, she wanted to keep it for herself! As he grew older, he refined and expanded his talents. Henry created beautiful images and artwork using multiple mediums including oils, paints, leather and wood. He would burn amazing images into his creations using a wood burner for a personalized touch. He was truly gifted. In 1996, Henry entered a drawing contest, where he submitted an oil painting of the Zapatistas, featuring his father as one of the members, and won! His painting was then featured in an issue of Lowrider Magazine. He showed his love through the creations of his artwork, and by sharing them with those he was close to. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry B. Chavez and his grandmother, Cuca Sandoval. Henry will be especially remembered for his warm heart and spirit, optimism, laughter and friendship, loyalty and artistic talent. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, located at 1375 S. Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ 85710 with a luncheon to follow the service. He will be buried the following day, at All Faiths Cemetery located at 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson, AZ 85748, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:00 am. Flowers can be sent to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or a donation can be made to Casa de los Ninos. Look for me in Rainbows Time for me to go now, I won't say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, way up in the sky. In the morning sunrise when all the world is new, Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you. Time for me to leave you, I won't say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, high up in the sky. In the evening sunset, when all the world is through, Just look for me and love me, and I'll be close to you. It won't be forever, the day will come and then My loving arms will hold you, when we meet again. Time for us to part now, we won't say goodbye; Look for me in rainbows, shining in the sky. Every waking moment, and all your whole life through Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you. Just wish me to be near you, And I'll be there with you. Music and lyrics: Conn Bernard (1990). Vicki Brown
