Obituary of Dorothy Hackathorn

Dorothy Lillian Hackathorn, 93, known to friends as "Dottie", died on Friday, January 8, 2016. She was born in Kansas City, KS on August 3, 1922 to Lithuanian immigrants. She married Giles R. Hackathorn, who was serving in the Navy, in 1942. After the war they settled in Kansas City and she raised three children, worked in the Accounting Dept at Farmland Industries and always harvested a great garden. After Giles retired they moved to Tucson, AZ in 1982 and had a wonderful retirement visiting with many friends and relatives. She liked fishing, playing cards and bingo, traveling in the RV and cheering for the U of A. Giles passed away in 2004 and Dottie eventually moved to the Country Club of La Cholla, which she thoroughly enjoyed. After a couple serious falls and a long recovery she moved to the BeeHive Assisted Living Home where she received wonderful care. Dottie was a kind, generous person and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by daughter Connie (Mary) of Marana, AZ; sons David of Prescott, AZ and Tim (Sharon) of Tucson, AZ; grandsons Casey (Tina) of Missoula, MT, Nathan of Austin, TX, Jon (Nicole) of San Antonio, TX, Brett (Jessica) of Tucson, AZ; and great grandkids Ian, Carmen, Haylee, Loghan, Aiden, Iszella, and Dawson. A memorial service will be held in the future in Tucson. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Association of Arizona, 360 E.
