Obituary of Matthew Francis Ellis

Matthew Francis Ellis passed peacefully on March 2, 2016. Born July 6 1949, Matt graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in business leading to a career in finance including jobs at Union Bank, the Diocese of Tucson, United Way and The St. Thomas More Newman Center. Preceded in death by his parents William J and Carolyn J Ellis. Survived by siblings Thomas (Maureen), Mark (Chad), John (Laurie) and Carol; nieces and nephews Lori (Paul) Franklin, Julie Mixer, Thomas (Erin) Ellis, Joel (Kristy) Ellis, Michael (Krissy) Ellis and Sean Ellis. Grand nieces and nephews Haley, Alec, Brittany, Zach, Abbie, William, Eleanor, Egan and Olive. His devotion to family and friends was unequaled. The love he felt for his nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and many of his friends children could only be equaled by a fathers, and in kind, it was returned. His lifelong love and practice of music and art, history and horticulture, writing and reading created in him a true Renaissance man- a gentleman and lifelong scholar. Visitation and Scripture reading will be between 4-8:00PM on Sunday March 13 at Brings Funeral Home at 6910 E Broadway in Tucson. Funeral Service is at 10:30 AM March 14, 2016 at St Augustine Cathedral 192 S Stone Avenue, Tucson. Interment following at Holy Hope Cemetery.
