Marjorie Bartok

Obituary of Marjorie Lucille Bartok

BARTOK, Marjorie L. 90, passed away in her Tucson home early on March 13, 2016 with her son Michael present, more than 13 years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Our family cannot express how blessed we feel because mom remained happy and retained the sweet and loving personality she always had. Marjorie was born on May 10, 1925 in Painesville, Ohio. There, she graduated from Harvey High School and met the love of her life, Albert Bartok. Upon his return from serving in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II they planned a wedding and were married five months later on September 28, 1946. The next two years brought a son and a daughter. 16 years later another son and daughter were born, two years apart. Margie worked 21 years at John R. Williams Jr. High School in Painesville. Most of that time as an Administrative Assistant to the Principal. Her hobbies included sewing, reading mystery novels and crossword puzzles. She also taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and taught sewing at the local 4H Club. And, she absolutely loved playtime with her children and grandchildren. Being fed up with the snow and cold, Margie and Al with the two younger kids moved to Tucson in 1977. Margie finished her working career here as Administrative Assistant for Giffin Trane and Hector's Concrete. After their retirement in 1990 Margie and Al spent summers RV-ing all across America and as far as Alaska and Cozumel, Mexico visiting family and friends along the way. Margie and Al were married for 62 years. They were inseparable until Alberts passing in 2008. Now, after seven and a half years they are reunited for eternity. Margie was preceded in death by husband, Albert Bartok; son, Charles Bartok; mother, Irene Stowe; father, Frederick Rippin; stepfather, Charles Ames; sisters, Evelyn and Betty Ames; brother, Donald Ames; stepbrother, Charles Rippin, Sr. and great-grandson, Kasey Young. Margie is survived by her son, Michael; daughters, Kathleen (Don) Basco and Suzanne (Koorosh) Araghi; aunt, Lucille Wilson; stepsister, Sally (Don) Deutch; stepbrothers, Ronald and Jerome Rippin; sister-in-law, Julia Lampman; daughter-in-law, Mary Bartok; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, Tucson
