Obituary of Ray Alan Olsson

Ray Alan Olsson died after a long illness on April 2, 2016 in Tucson Arizona He was 73 years old. Ray is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carrie, sons, Robert Olsson, David Olsson, and Joseph Olsson. He had one daughter, Rachael Franzen. Three children, Rob, Dave and Rachael live in Tucson. Joe lives in Princeton, Texas. Ray's brother, William G. Olsson also resides in Tucson. Ray was born on January 21, 1943 in Cleveland Ohio to George and Virginia Olsson. He lived there in the home built by his grandfather until his marriage to Carrie on July 5, 1968. God blessed their union with 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His children remember him as a loving and devoted father who encouraged them to follow the teachings of his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. He mentored them in practical skills and encouraged them to reach their goals. In 1972 Ray and Carrie moved their family to Tucson. Ray was trained as an electrician and quickly established his membership in Local 570 of IBEW. After attaining further skills in his craft he became a Journeyman Electrician and in 1983 was granted his Electrical Contractors license. He then established his own business, Copperstate Electric which continued to operate until his retirement in 2011. Ray will be remembered for his wonderful witty sense of humor. Friends often remarked that they loved to call our house just to hear what he would say. He was always willing to answer the needs of others no matter what task he was asked to do. His work ethic was always exemplary. Each project he undertook was planned to perfection, sometimes a little over the top. We will always be grateful that Ray stayed a little longer, just to give us the joy of having him with us. Please join us in honoring Ray at Calvary Chapel East on April 10th at 2pm. A reception at the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Practical Christian Living. You may do so by visiting the Calvary Tucson website.
