Obituary of Eunice Marie Grabow

Eunice Marie Grabow, 90, died June 26, 2016 after a short illness. A loving wife, caring sister, precious mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother, Eunice was born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1925 and had been a resident of Tucson for most of her life. She married the late Joseph C. Grabow, a United States Air Force Officer, in 1946 and they shared almost 50 married years together. They made new friends wherever the military assigned them and valued being a part of the military community. Eunice is survived by her three children: Nancie (Charlie) Kondrat, Tucson, Arizona; Keith Grabow, Richland, Washington; and Diane (Jim) Lutz, Plano, Texas; her grandchildren Jennifer Lutz of Plano, Texas; Mark (Brittney) Kondrat of Gig Harbor, Washington, Kevin (Jenna) Lutz of Chula Vista, California, and Lisa Kondrat of Tucson, Arizona; her great-grandchildren Cooper and Quinn Lutz and Finn Kondrat. She is further survived by her brother Don Roth of Tucson, Arizona and many other family and friends. Eunice loved to sing and gathered the family together to sing along with her. She appreciated a challenging round of golf and loved to tee it up with her husband Joe. She mastered the art of sewing and cake decorating and her pie making fame was unsurpassed. Holidays found Eunice pulling out all the stops to decorate tables and counters and gave her a reason to entertain. She was a great all around cook and family members and friends use her recipes routinely. Eunice loved nothing more than a good hand written note, to send or receive, and would work arduously to compose a letter or card to send to family and friends. Eunice was a member of the Toastmistress Club International and the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Eunice had a deep and profound love of her Catholic faith. She was a great mom, and was often heard saying 'raising her children were the best days of her life.' Eunice was always supporting her children and encouraging them to try new adventures. She treasured her grandchildren and delighted in the arrival of her great-grandchildren. She loved her husband Joe unconditionally and we know she is in heaven with him now. No doubt the chocolate pie is ready and they are both enjoying a good cup of coffee and a slice of pie together. Our faith in God and the unbelievable outpouring of support and love from family and friends will forever remind us of the incredible human being our mother was. We are thankful for the staff at La Rosa Assisted Living Community for their support and care of our mother. A celebration of Eunice's life will be held Thursday, June 30 with a Viewing and Rosary beginning at 9 a.m. and Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on 5150 N. Valley View Rd. Tucson. Interment will take place at Ft. Huachuca Post Cemetery.
