Obituary of Manuel Garcia Ramirez

Manuel Garcia Ramirez, age 77, passed away on Friday July 14, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, AZ. He was born on July 29, 1938, in Carlsbad, NM, to Leocavio and Julia (Garcia) Ramirez. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1963. Known to his friends and family as Manny, he spent 2 years in Germany while on tour with the Army. He was last stationed in Fort Ord, CA, where he was honorably discharged and spent the next 50 years living and working as a carpenter, laborer and contractor in the Monterey Bay area. Manny was a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He moved to Tucson, AZ in 2010. He is survived by his daughter Diane Ramirez and daughter-in-law Karla Starr of Tucson, AZ, Sister Helen Orona and brother-in-law Nieves Orona of Albuquerque, NM, and many nieces nephews of Carlsbad and Albuquerque, NM. Manny was preceded by his parents, brother Leo Ramirez, sisters Julia Alvarado, Librada Acevedo, and Mikala (Mickey) Granger and daughter Conny Ramirez. Services will be held at the Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway in Tucson, AZ, on July 29 at 2:00 pm.
