James Hansen

Obituary of James Edward Hansen

James Edward Hansen was born on the 31st of March 1936 in Bellingham, WA, and went to be with the Lord peacefully Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in Tucson, AZ. Jim worked for the National Weather Service and other private companies as a weather man for forty years. One of his many assignments was being stationed at the Quillayute Prairie weather station from 1967 until 1979. Jim moved to Forks in 1967 where, later on, he met Donna Maxfield, they were married on May 24, 1969. Before settling down with Donna and family, Jim was a world traveler or globe trotter visiting 42 countries. He enjoyed studying birds abroad and here at home. He was an avid outdoorsman, from fishing, bird hunting, bird watching, to just getting out and taking his early morning walks to talk with his Savior. On July 20, 1969, Jim took a walk that would be life changing for him, at the same time two astronauts landed and walked on the moon. While the world was fixed on the history that was taking place on their tv's, Jim's personal history was being recorded in the book of life. This transformation did not come with applause or cheers, it came spiritually with heavenly recognition through Jesus Christ, Jim's Lord and Savior. From that moment Jim became deeply involved with our church, the Forks Assembly of God. He was the first Royal Ranger leader for the boys of the church. He was involved in the Men's Ministry; he also enjoyed participating in mission trips through the church and Youth With A Mission (YWAM). He went on 7 solo trips and 6 more with his wife Donna. Jim and Donna visited 32 countries on their various adventures. Jim was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepmother. He is survived by his wife Donna, Daughters Donita Wakefield (Steve) and Candace Heinz (Mark); sons Brad Parker (Sharalyn) and Frank Hansen (Sheryl); sister: Pat Knapp, of Lynden, Washington, nine (9) grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Jim's success in life is not measured by wealth, possessions or anything materialistic, but by his strong walk in his faith, his love for family, and his strong relationship with his best friend, soul mate, and wife, Donna. Good night George Chickadee, you are missed but not forgotten. Love you DD!!
