Obituary of Earleen M. Fick

Earleen Marie Fick passed away Wednesday August 24, 2016. Earleen was born in Reading, PA on July 30, 1948 the daughter of William E. & Shirley F. Heffner. She is preceded in death by her mother and brother John D. Heffner. She is survived by her father, her brother William E. Jr. of Harrisburg, PA, her son Erin D. Fick, his wife Pamela S. Fick, and her grandson Tanner E. Fick all from Tucson, AZ. Having grown up in the country, living on the family dairy farm into adulthood Earleen always felt a deep connection to nature and the elements. She always loved working with plants and flowers. She graduated in 1966 from Schuylkill Valley High School. During this same time Earleen attended and graduated from Empire Beauty School, earning her license in cosmetology in 1964 and her license as a teacher of cosmetology in 1967. Earleen and her family moved to Tucson in 1986. Inspired by the desert and mountains Earleen soon explored a new area of creativity enrolling at Pima Community College to study art design, metal fabricating, and jewelry design. She also arranged floral designs, many inspired by the desert. As Earleen began the study of yoga her spiritual journey also came to the forefront. She earned her first and second Reiki Attunement, attended a two year program at the Institute of Health and Healing with Phyllis Winslow, and finally in 2001 was ordained as a minister at United Fellowship Chapel. Earleen worked as a hairstylist at The Hair Tree salon where she developed her extended family of co-workers and friends. The friends she made through her work were very special to her and she always said she was so blessed to have those women in her life. Once of Earleen's greatest blessings was her grandson, Tanner. From teaching him about baking and gardening to building forts and playing games the two of them built a very special relationship. Earleen was not just a grandma to Tanner, she was his Oma. Earleen loved nature, the healing arts, and people. She had a kind heart and a gentle spirit. Everyone that met her liked her and she always tried to find something special about everyone. A celebration of her life will be held Friday September 23, 2016 at 3:30 pm Bring's Broadway Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Earleen's name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Special Olympics.
