Obituary of Barbara Unger

UNGER, Barbara Norton passed peacefully from this life on August 24, 2016 from the arms of her family that loved her. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She is survived by her son, Kim Unger, his wife, Bobbie and their three children, Courtney, Kelsey and Zachary and her daughter, Lisa Unger Trott, her husband, Roger and their son, Jesse. Barbara moved to Tucson in 1955 from Colorado where she met and married the love of her life, Jack. She was a very proud Grandmother. She loved to dance, travel, play cards with her friends, work crossword puzzles, eat Snickers Bars and she was a pie maker extraordinaire. She was passionate about animals and was a Docent at the Reid Park Zoo for 32 years. In the history of the zoo, only one other person has been a Docent for a longer period of time than Barbara. She died as she lived with dignity, strength and honor and she kept her witty sense of humor until her final hours. Rest well Mom. We let you go with love. We wish to thank her nurses, caregivers and doctors at TMC who gave her the most amazing and compassionate care. A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Memorials may be made in Barbara's name to the Reid Park Zoological Society, www.reidparkzoo.org to support the animals she loved and a place where she loved to spend her time.
