Obituary of Portia M. Hayward

Portia Madora Hayward (nee Grinage), entered this world on Sunday July 2, 1944 and departed this life in victory on Thursday September 1, 2016. "Puddin" as she was affectionately called by family was the youngest child of the late Osborn and Portia Grinage. She attended the Public School System of Philadelphia, PA graduating from West Philadelphia High School and went on to attend Penn State University and Drexel University. During this time she met the late Philip Hayward Jr. and were joined in holy matrimony in 1966. From this union one child was born, Renee. The family decided that a change of pace was needed and moved to Tucson AZ in 1976. During her lifetime she was active in her church, worked with the Literacy Foundation teaching people to read and she greatly enjoyed singing in the Tucson Mass Choir. She had the opportunity to travel all over the United States for work but after her retirement from the Department of Defense in 2007 she was able to travel to more exotic locals such as Hawaii, Italy France and Switzerland. She is survived by: a daughter Renee Hampton, Son in law Ken Hampton, Granddaughter Briana Hampton, Brother Osborn Grinage and a host of family and friends who loved her, a true child of God, impacting everyone who she came in contact with. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore; for the former things have passes away" Revelations 21:4
