Obituary of Richard F. Cambalik
Richard Francis Cambalik, born on October 5, 1936 in Manhattan, passed away
on July 9, 2012 in Tucson, AZ. After high school, Richard served in the Air
Force. Upon returning home, he packed up his car and drove West, arriving
in Tucson in 1960. He was a Police Officer with the Tucson Police
Department from 1960-1966. He later joined the Department of Public Safety
as a Arizona Highway Patrolman from 1966-1972 and as an agent with Arizona
Narcotic Strike Force from 1972-1982. After retiring from the police force
he worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles and National Bank of Arizona.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Victoria. He was an amazing
father to Lisa Vincent (Mark), Grace Erdman (Chris) and Stephen Cambalik.
He was the "World's Greatest Papa" to Matthew, Andrew and Sarah Vincent and
Tate and Avery Erdman. He was a terrific brother to his sister, Mary Hores
and brother-in-law to Bea Sotomayor. He was the crazy and loving "Uncle
Richie" to his nieces Barbara, Terry, Suzy and Marianne. He spent much of
his time gardening, growing everything from roses, chili peppers,
poinsettias and even dahlias in the hot desert climate. He was also very
involved with his church, ST. Melany Byzantine Catholic Church where he
spent time baking and setting up for the Slovak Festival each Fall. The
rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 and the service will be
at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at St. Melany Church, 1212 N.
Sahuara, with Fr. Robert Rankin officiating. Those, who so desire, may make
memorial donations in memory of Richard to St. Melany. Arrangements by
