Obituary of John H.H. Penners

John H.H. Penners M.D. passed away on August 25, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the youngest of five children. He graduated from the University of Amsterdam Medical School, was in general practice for a few years and came to the U.S. for a residency in radiology at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, CO. He practiced in Tucson at the former Thomas Davis Clinic. He chose the right specialty and thoroughly enjoyed his work, his colleagues and the people with whom he worked. Starting in high school, he became an accomplished chess player, something he enjoyed both playing and teaching throughout his life. Living in the Southwest, he also enjoyed fishing trips from Rocky Point and, in later years, he became an avid hiker. John is survived by his wife, Jackie of 55 years and three children, Ann (Joe) Bergen, John Jr. and Donald (DeeDee) and four grandchildren, who all loved him very much and will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association , P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. A Memorial Service will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
