Obituary of Wesley Emerson Soderquist

Dr. Wesley Emerson Soderquist (9/19/32-6/14/13) Passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14 2013, with family and friends at his side. Wesley is survived by his wife of 54 years, June, his brother, Charles Jr., his daughters, Dawn and Cheryl and his son, Keith. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 19, 1932, to Charles and Myrtle Soderquist. Wesley, a Korean War veteran, served in the army from 1953-1955, where he worked as a missile technician. After serving, he then went on to pursue his career in higher education. He received his BS from IIT in 1953, his MBA from University of Chicago in 1957 and his Doctorate in Educational Administration from Loyola of Chicago in 1973. Wesley devoted most of his life to college education institutions starting with the Chicago city colleges in 1962. He then went on to Tucson, spending over 30 years as an administrator/president at Pima Community College, where he helped start up several of their Tucson area campuses. Wesley retired in 2002 to spend more time with family, golfing and watching his beloved Chicago Cubs and Bears. A Memorial Gathering will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL 6910 E. Broadway, on Friday, June 28, 2013, from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to the PCC Foundation.
