Dallas Treat

Obituary of Dallas L. Treat

Dallas L. Treat was born June 1st, 1934 in Donaphin, NE, 1 of 6 children, to Albert and Marguerite Harris-Treat. The family moved to Yakima, WA in 1944 where Dallas played football for and graduated from Yakima High (1953; he attended his 60th class reunion this past September). Dallas would go on to serve in the US Air force as an airplane electrician and would continue to play football while enlisted; traveling around Southeast Asia. His first bout with cancer had him medically retire from the military; and so Dallas returned to Yakima in 1957. About 6 months later he would meet and begin dating Dorothy M. Koch; they were married on October 11, 1958. During the first few years of marriage they lived in Seattle, WA where Dallas attended school and Dorothy worked for the University of Washington, but the rain drove them mad and they were happy to return to the Yakima Valley when Dallas graduated in 1961; he eventually went back to school at Central Washington University to get his teaching certificate. Dallas taught just about every subject except girls' PE and English, was Senior Class advisor, and loved every minute of the 30 years he taught for East Valley High School retiring in 1994. In 2005, Dallas and Dorothy moved to Tucson to get away from the snow and were able to explore most of AZ in their motor home with the Catalina Sams. In his last year, Dallas battled cancer for a third time and passed on December 6, 2013. Dallas was a fantastic husband of 55 years, wonderful father, a beloved grandfather, a caring son, loyal brother, and a favorite uncle. He had a light heart, a joking personality, and ability to entertain youngsters with his famous "duck voice". Dallas enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodwork, metal work, and travel. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, son Dana and his wife Zita (Tucson, AZ), Daughter Danette (Seattle, WA), and 5 grandchildren Jacquelynn (Seattle, WA), Morgan (Tucson, AZ), Eric, Andrew and Angelina (Yakima, WA); his brother Dennis (Yakima, WA), brother Merle and his wife Evelyn (Selah, WA) and sister Wilma Leander and her husband David (Roseburg, OR) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gladys Miles and Gloria Wolfe. The family would like any donations to be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice (7740 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85704) which eased the care needed in his final days. There will be a memorial on Thursday, December 19th, 2013 at 11am at Bring's Broadway Chapel (6910 E Broadway Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85710).
