Velma Gearhart-Larmey Born July 6, 1918 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Dave and Maxie James. She joined our heavenly father on January 6, 2014 at age 95. Her first marriage to Russel Gearhart lasted 55 years until his death in 1992. She married Bill Larmey in 1995, and their marriage was on going until her passing. Velma always said that both of her marriages were made in heaven. Surviving relatives include husband, Bill Larmey of Tucson; daughter, Ginny Rants of Rosarita Beach, Mexico; grandchildren Kathy and Mark Stevens of California; Kevin Stevens of Oregon; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 step daughters and 3 stepsons by her second marriage. Velma's main occupation was in payroll and accounting. Her employers included the University of AZ, National Observatory at Kitt Peak and Page Aircraft at Fort Huachuca. She enjoyed he work and made many lasting friendships. She was respected and loved by her fellow employees. Velma lived in Tucson Meadows Mobile Home Park for 40 plus years, and until her illness was very involved in park activities. She loved dancing, decorating, planning activities, summers golfing in Rexburg, Idaho and family activities. She got comfort and satisfaction reading the Bible and was a very devout Christian. Velma was a very attractive woman and was often complimented by complete strangers. Visitation, Thursday, January 9 from 5 to 6 pm at Brings Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson and Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, January 10, 2014 also at Bring Broadway Chapel, with interment to follow at Eastlawn Cemtery in Tucson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Community Food Bank or Gospel Rescue Mission. The family wishes to thank Kelly, Brenda and Sue of TMC Hospice for the comfort and care given to Velma.
