Obituary of J L Bass

J L Bass was born in Maytown, TX, May 7, 1922. At 6 months old his parents, James and Jesse Bass moved to Phoenix , AZ, where J L grew up. At the start of WWII, he enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to Pearl Harbor. He served as a gunner on torpedo planes. Later he served on a ship where he learned to be an aircraft mechanic. Upon returning from the war, he married Maxine Powell of Willcox, AZ. He worked at the Naval Air Facility at Litchfield Park as a civilian. After it closed, he transferred to Davis- Monthan Air Force Base where he retired. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, children, Betty Gaffery (Don), Jim Bass (Trish), Dan Bass, Fred Bass(Bonnie), Donna Abrams, Barbara Gill(Jim), 11 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.
