Obituary of Paul Maxwell Colell

Paul Maxwell Colell, Jr 84, of Tucson, passed away on March 2, 2014 at home with in the arms of his wife after a courageous struggle with congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anita, his daughters, Clarissa (Paul) Marques, Trudy Colell and son, Paul (Jewel) Colell III. His grandchildren, John (Paula) Swann, Sara (Ryan) Kadlec, Alexander (Hillary) Marques, Lauren (Justus) Vaccaro. His great-grandchildren, Maxwell Swann and Abigail Kadlec. Mr. Colell was born in Milwaukee, WI. He was a 23 year veteran of the USAF retiring in Tucson, AZ as a SMSGT. His Air Force career took him across the country and around the world. He served in the Korean War. He had second career as Chief of Security at the MGM Grand in Reno, retiring again in Tucson, AZ. He was a lifelong athlete involved in high school, college and intramural sports ranging from basketball, football, handball, racquetball and his most avid passion, golf. He was a member of Randolph Men's Club and played in the USGA Senior Open in Scioto C.C. in Columbus, Ohio in 1986. He was a lover of a dry martini, a rare steak and a good life. He was a family man with a love for Anita that lasted his lifetime and a family that reflected their love as a couple. Memorial Service to be held at Bring's Funeral Home, 6910 E. Broadway on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. followed by a reception to be held at the Lodge on the Desert, 306 N. Alvernon Way, immediately afterwards (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.). In lieu of floral tributes, it is suggested that donations be made to The First Tee (program for children to engage them in the game of golf) or to a local charity of choice.
