Walter Wallace

Obituary of Walter Lee Wallace

Walter Lee Wallace, Jr., born December 6, 1955, passed on to Glory on April 18, 2014. He served 21 years in the United States Air Force. He was a true entrepreneur—he developed, started, and grew several successful businesses here in Tucson. Two of his favorite titles were, Owner of Three Points Childcare and Preschool; and Coach Wallace. As owner of the center, he understood the importance of meals from scratch. He had a way of getting kids to eat nutritious food that tasted great. He really loved all of the children of Three Points Childcare Center. Walter was the business manager as well as one of the coaches for the Arizona Titans Track Club. He loved being able to help kids develop their full potential. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wendy; sons, Levi, a freshman at the University of Alabama; and Lawrence, a junior at Tucson Magnet High School. The title of Dad was the title he loved best. Raising Levi and Lawrence to have moral and good character was his most important job. He leaves one brother, Joe Hall, Sr., of Tuscaloosa, AL; six sisters: Marion of Oakland, CA; Dorothy Smith (Bob) of Los Angeles, CA; Geraldine Hall of Tuscaloosa, AL; Ruthie Hall of Arlington, TX; Bessie Burden of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Jessie Gaither, Pensacola, FL. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter L. Wallace, Sr.; mother, Mary H. Wallace; sister, Gwendolyn Taylor and Dr. Barbara D. Horton. Walter also leaves behind Curry Hale, whom he considered to be his younger brother. His childhood friend, Tyrone Wilson and good friends, Ralph Ramirez, James Rivers, Joel Johnson, Felix Kadiri and Freddie Lux remained loyal friends whom he enjoyed being around among many friends. His father-in-law, Lawrence Williams, was like his own dad. Mr. Ward Snyder, known as Grand Pa, was forever dependable and always available. All of the nice folks at the commissary who helped Walter with his shopping every week—thank you. A host of nieces and nephews—too many to name—were extremely important to him. He loved his family tremendously. Walter's Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church with visitation from 2-3 pm, and the service will begin at 3 pm. The eulogy will be performed by Pastor Warren Anderson, Jr. (Living Waters Ministries). Arrangements by Bring's Broadway Chapel. The Wallace Family would like to thank the entire Veterans Administration Medical Center for taking such great care of him during his illness. A special thanks to the Hale Family—for everything. The family wishes to add a very special thank you to the families on both sides for all of the love and support; and to all of our friends and neighbors.
