Obituary of Tony M. Bracamonte

Tony M. Bracamonte 5/24/1933 - 5/22/2014 Survived by his brothers Robert and Gene; sisters in-law, Christina and Nelly; nephews, Paul, Mark, Richard and niece Erika (John); his cousins, Carlos (Jane), Thomas (Josie), Dolores (Bobby), Irene (David) and many more. Tony was the oldest of three brothers and grew up on Tucson's south side. He ran track and graduated from Tucson High in 1951. Soon thereafter, the Korean Conflict called him into service for his country. He achieved the rank of Sergeant in the 1st Armored Division, Company C, as a Tank Commander. He was on call to be deployed to the front when the armistice was signed in 1953. Tony retained a deep respect for the military throughout his life and was very proud to let everyone know that he had served his country in the US Army. He returned to Tucson and worked in a variety of positions, culminating in his position as dock operations foreman with Montgomery Ward at El Con, retiring in 1998. Tony was a fun-loving person. He enjoyed family celebrations, especially Christmas, and eating Tamales. In his prime he was able to down a dozen tamales in one sitting, with room for more. Tony loved professional football. During a period of his life, he was a test car driver for a highly regarded tire manufacturer and lived in San Angelo, Texas, where he became a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. The trip to a game would take 30 hours, but he always managed to make it back in time to run another car around the track at over 100 mph to test for tire failure. Tony lived his life in relatively good health, but was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. He had hoped to complete some final wishes in the next couple of months, but he was called before these could be completed. We know now that the Lord upstairs had a bigger plan for Tony that couldn't wait. Tony's wish was that his cremated remains be delivered to San Francisco Bay. We will forever miss this kind, gentle, and caring man who was a great Brother, Uncle, and Cousin.
