Obituary of LauraBelle Pulver

LauraBelle Vincent Pulver November 27, 1925 - May 23, 2014 LauraBelle began life's great adventure on November 27, 1925 at the home of her parents, George and Lottie Vincent, located south of Chappell, Nebraska. She enjoyed a loving family, farm life, and going to school in a small one-room school in Hillview, District #5. LauraBelle graduated from Deuel County High School in 1942, just after the beginning of World War II. A new chapter in her great adventure began on November 17, 1942, when she was united in marriage to James William Pulver, a Corporal in the 168th Colorado Field Artillery. Their first home was near Camp Roberts, California. They also lived in Biloxi, MS. and Glendale, CA. where Jim was stationed. He was released from the Army in Florida and they moved back to the "home" area in Colorado/Nebraska. After college, Jim began teaching in Fontana, CA. and while there, in 1949, LauraBelle received Jesus as her personal savior - the beginning of the best adventure of all. Jim soon followed in his decision for Jesus Christ and they entered LIFE Bible School, and then back to Colorado. When General MacArthur asked for 1000 missionaries for Japan, the Pulver's volunteered. They went to Kyushu Island in Japan and organized and taught an elementary school for the missionary children. How wonderful the ways of God, as it was in Kurume, Japan they met a beautiful two month old baby girl who opened another wonderful door in LauraBelle's adventure - motherhood! After appealing to the Japanese and American governments, Mieko Kristine became Private Law #90 of the 83rd Congress, signed by President Eisenhower. This petition allowed them to adopt and take Mieko to America. Mieko means "beautiful gift" and she was God's gift to Jim and Laura Belle. They returned to America and in a few years added two more wonderful babies to their family. The Lord allowed them to love and cherish and care for - David John and Denise Joy. Both were adopted through the Holt Adoption Agency and came from South Korea. Raising children was a great adventure! When their little ones grew up and each left to begin their own adventures, it seemed life was over - but not yet! The Lord had a new chapter in Laura's adventure - she became a grandmother - six times! What great joy, grandchildren are! LauraBelle was so blessed to have such a loving wonderful family. The Lord had indeed answered prayer and had been guiding each step of the way. LauraBelle was proceeded in death by James William Pulver, her beloved husband of 53 years. She is survived by her sister, Violet Victoria Vincent McGrath. She is survived by her children Mieko Kristine Po (Jim Po), David John Pulver (Cindy Mackey-Wagner), Denise Joy Majeski (Michael Majeski), her grandchildren Amy Crenshaw (Scott Crenshaw), Tai Po, Kristina Read (Aaron Read), James Berger, Lee Pulver, Megan Pulver, and her great-grandchildren Adam and Lily Crenshaw, and Ella and Camille Read. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Far East Broadcasting Company, PO Box 1, La Mirada, California 90637.
