Obituary of Peter F. Nichols

Peter Francis Nichols July26, 1922- August 28, 2014 Pete was preceded in death by his parents Frank Mario and Sara Angelina Nichols, and his siblings Julia Krebs, Michael Nichols, Joseph Nichols, Raymond Nichols, Frank Nichols and Nancy Arnold, and his sons Donald and Paul Nichols. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Lois, his sister Anna Jane Nichols, his children; Jerry (Aleta), Pete Jr (Audrey), Jan Bess, Jean (Scott) Rockwell, Chris (Gerry) Sobye, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Pete grew up in Warren Pennsylvania and after high school enlisted in the navy. He served on the USS Savannah and then on the USS Bunker Hill and finally on the USS Newman K. Perry. After the Navy, Pete spent his working career as an automotive mechanic. In 1942, while in the Navy, Pete received letters from a young lady Lois King. After 3 years of correspondence, they were married in 1945. They had 7 children. Then, in 1972, to get away from the harsh winters they moved from Pennsylvania with 4 of their children to Tucson. Pete and Lois managed throughout the years 3 different Mobil gas stations. The last one being at Tanque Verde Road and Camino Principal in Tucson. In 1987 Pete and Lois retired from many enjoyable years of hard work. Pete loved all of his customers, he always enjoyed running into them around town. Pete was surrounded by his family the last days of his 92 years. We will miss you Daddy-O.
