Obituary of Steve A. Childress

Stephen A. Childress 82, died August 29, 2014. He was born April 17, 1932 in Los Angeles to Gus and Jonnie Mae Childress. Steve was predeceased by his sisters, Gina Woolever and Cindy Fraser and his son, Scott Childress. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, JoAnn; sister, Judy Hines (Tom); daughters, Theresa Harrington (Jim), Stephanie Shira, Stacey Yeager (Wes) and son-in-law, Joe Roos; grandchildren, Jon, Chelsea, Devan, Braden, Sarah and Katie; great-grandson, Agustus. Steve served in the Army in Korea as an Honor Guard. He retired in 1979 as Chief of the Fairbanks, Alaska Fire Dept. where he served for 22 years. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Services Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E. Pima, Tucson.
