Obituary of George P. Rimmell

Formerly of Carnegie, Pennsylvania passed away October 22, 2014, at the age of 84, in Tucson, Arizona. George had retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in charge of Maintenance Control with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 171st Air Refueling Wing after 40 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; daughter, Karen (Beau) Rimmell and brother-in-law, Joe Stafford. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin. George was a coach for Little League and Pony League and mentored many of the young people in that league as well as in the neighborhood. Horses were his passion as a young boy, and as he grew up he caddied at Chartiers Country Club which led him to become an avid golfer. George was a fervent fan of all the Pittsburgh sports teams rooting on the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 2pm at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, 9071 East Old Spanish Trail. Private interment will be held in Carnegie. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church or Pima Animal Care, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, Tucson, AZ 85746.
