Obituary of Dana J. Buelow

Dana Jean Buelow (Hughes) was called to be with our Lord Jesus, Monday, February 9, 2015 after an extended battle with cancer. Dana was born April 3, 1957 in Mansfield, OH. She moved with her family to Madison, WI during the summer of 1957. They lived in Beloit, WI for a couple years and moved to Valparaiso, IN during 1959. Dana attended Banta elementary school, Ben Franklin Jr. High and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1975. Dana moved to Tucson, AZ in 1978 where her son Wesley was born in 1981. She lived in Spearfish and Mitchell, SD and moved back to Valparaiso during 1996. Dana earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1997); Master of Science in Nursing (2001); Family and Nurse Practitioner (2007) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (2010) from Valparaiso University. She worked in various emergency rooms in Valparaiso, Michigan City and Merrillville, IN. She moved to Tucson, AZ in 2010 where she taught at the University of Arizona and worked in emergency and trauma rooms as well as the local VA hospital. In addition, she embraced and further developed her relationship with the Lord as a member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, Tucson, AZ where she met Paul Buelow. Dana and Paul were married in September 2014, and they are members of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ. Dana is survived by her husband, Paul; son Wesley Robinson; parents Norm and Sara Hughes; brother Doug Hughes; sister Dee Bales; brother Dale Hughes; and brother Don Hughes. Dana embraced the southwestern culture and enjoyed hiking the many trails and canyons in the Tucson and surrounding area. She truly enjoyed the sights and smells while driving through Saguaro National Park during or immediately after a rain. "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.'" - John 11: 25-26 One of Dana's nieces wrote, "[We are] taking refuge in the promise of life everlasting with our king - where cancer and bodily decay have no reign over us and where we are restored to perfect harmony with our loving Father."
