ARTIE KEEVER OBITUARY

Artie (Art) George Keever of Tucson passed away on January 16, 2022, at the age of 83.

Art was born on February 14, 1938 in Long Beach California, to parents Virgil and Opal Keever (both deceased). He had an older brother Billy (deceased), and a younger sister Peggy (Loveland Colorado).

Arts father worked in the shipyards during World War II. After the war the family moved back to Loveland Colorado where Art attended Loveland High school and married his childhood sweetheart, Sandy (Tucson). They raised three children, Kim (Granby Colorado), Kent (deceased), and Keith (Bend Oregon).

Art served in the army from 1956-59, and was stationed in Germany his final 2 years, teaching electronics and applied systems to troops.

Art worked as a Customer Service Engineer for IBM in Denver Colorado from 1962-69, before pursuing a new path in higher education.

Art was an avid reader, and a lifelong lover of learning, getting his Bachelors (’72) and Masters (‘74) degrees in Sociology at Colorado State University, and then went on to Kent State University in Ohio, to work towards his PhD in Sociology. Over a period of more than10 years Art taught numerous university courses in sociology, anthropology, statistics, and data analysis.

Art worked for the Pima County Superior Court as a computer systems and data analysis specialist for 15 years, prior to retiring in 2003.

Arts extended family includes his wife Rose Marie and their two young great-grandchildren, Rose’s daughter Susan and husband Martin, Granddaughter Christina and husband Mario, as well as numerous grandchildren; Matthew, Aimee, Adam, great

grandchildren; Kyle, Jonah, Shai, Aiden, Azia, Destiny, Letitia, Tyisha, Miguel, Yahzi, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Art loved spending time in his workshop, building projects, repairing toys, or just tinkering. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, and loved watching horse racing. His other hobbies included baking with his grandchildren, discussing politics, and listening to music.

Over the last several years of his life, Arts greatest joy was, along with his wife Rosie, raising their two young great-grandchildren, and spending time with his close-knit family.
