Obituary of Joan Marie Lepak Kahsen

Joan Marie Kahsen, age 84, of 6150 E Grant, Tucson AZ passed away on December 15, 2021. She was surrounded by her family when she peacefully passed away at Devon Gables Hospice. Joan passed away from complication that set in after multiple surgeries.

Joan was born on August 3, 1937 to Harry J Lepak and Belle E (Kirkland) Lepak in Stockton Wisconsin. She lived in Wisconsin where she married Floyd Kahsen in 1955. Due to Floyd being in the Airforce they traveled around the world to many Airforce bases. She eventually settled in Tucson, AZ where the days were warmer than WI, but never forgetting about her family and friends from the frozen north.

Joan loved listening to NASCAR races. Her favorite driver was Mark Martin, much to the chagrin of family members with different favorite drivers. She loved playing cards and played a variety of solitaire games to pass the time when she was alone. More than anything else, Joan enjoyed being with family and friends. She would tell stories about her family and sports, of any kind, to anyone who would listen. One of her favorite activities was shopping with friends at the assisted living facility. Weather it was the captive audience for her stories, or walking around in a different environment, she always came back with a smile on her face. Getting out on an adventure was always in her blood. When she was younger she loved to travel and go camping. When she wasn't traveling, Joan enjoyed socializing with friends at the bowling alley in the many leagues she participated in, both women and mixed leagues.

Joan is survived by her four children – Kenneth (Barb) Kahsen, Vera (Ernie) Taylor, Vickie (Matthew) Baker, and Katherine (Raul) Nieto. 14 Grandchildren: Kenneth Jr (Cara) Kahsen, Casey (Jessica) Kahsen, Chelsey (Evan) Dankert, Krista Kahsen, Kaylee (Nathan) Warner, Chloe Kahsen, Cody Kahsen, Matthew (Kristy) Taylor, Kyle (Gerene) Taylor, Eric (Holly) Taylor, Connie Baker, Kevin Baker, Ryan Baker and Michael Nieto. She was also blessed with 15 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her siblings: Carol Casper, Margie Kubowski, Donna (Richard) Golomski and Roger (Ruth) Lepak.

Joan is preceded in death by her mother, Belle Lepak; father, Harry Lepak; and step-mother Carol (Groshek) Lepak.

There will be two services held one in Tucson AZ and one in Stevens Point WI.
