Condolences to John’s family. John was truly one of a kind. Gone from our sight but never from our hearts.

Thinking of all John"s family and Sharon. John and I grew up together in El Cerrito/Kensington California. He instilled the love of the blues, r&b and gosper quartets. We joined the army together, September 1963 on the buddy system. Then were separated, he to Vietnam me to the Czech border of Germany. We got out September 1966 and lived together for a few years. He had many friends and many of my brother"s age were friends with Mike and Peter. Then John followed his mom to Tucson as did the others. We visited many times. My favorite visit was the weekend I spent with Jacques and Smith. I coach rugby at the Univ of California, Berkeley and we were playing for a national championship in Tuscon, we won. Jacques and Smith were our biggest fans. John helped us with logistics. He always helped and stuck up for everyone. He always bragged about the kids and grandkids. And his answer to how's Sharon was, she"s great. Talking with Danny Holmes about our many stories, John is the most unique person we'd ever met. He will be missed by this world to which he added so much. John found happiness and peace with family in Tucson. And now ultimate peace. John, see ya on the other side. Jerry (Gonee his nickname for me) Love to all Jerry Figone
