Hazel LaVerne Robinson

The children of Hazel LaVerne Robinson (Patten) are sad to announce the passing of their beloved mother on December 25, 2020, she was born on October 7, 1931. LaVerne grew up on a farm in Portageville, MO where she met BW (Robbie) Robinson. They were married in 1947 and moved to MI. She worked various jobs until settling in at Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti plant were she worked for 30 years. During this period she was also co-owner of R&L Marathon service station. LaVerne was very proud to be a Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 119 in Ypsilanti, MI.  She raised four children and contributed to the raising of many extended family members. When she retired in 1985 she and Robbie moved to Tucson, AZ. She continued to enjoy life in the sun, hiking, playing cards (especially Bridge) and being an active part of her new community. Her husband of 50 years passed away in 1998 and two years later she met and married Cam Beland and welcomed and embraced a whole new family into her life. After only 12 years she lost Cam. She continued to enjoy life, family, making new friends and good health. She is preceded in death by husband’s Robbie Robinson, and Cam Beland, five sisters, four brothers, and other family members. She is survived by two brothers, JD (Priscilla) Patton and Kenneth(Sharon) Patton of Portageville, MO. Her children, Mildred Jean Bitnar-Rafalski, Judy Marie Novencido, both of Tucson, AZ, Bettina (Betsy) Sue Robinson Murrell, (Bill) of Ann Arbor, MI, and Douglas Wesley (Lori) Robinson of Simpsonville, SC. Grand children Sheldon Novencido, Shawn Novencido, Shane (Sara) Novencido, Larry Vance (Jennifer) Bitnar and Brandon Wulf (Trevis Moore) all of MI, and Timothy (Patty) Bitnar of Tucson, AZ. Six great grandchildren, Four great great grandchildren, many step family members, and 100’s of extended family and friends. God now has our Mother and family matriarch and she will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to travel and gather together.
