Stanwood Farrell, Jr.

Obituary of Stanwood Henry Farrell, Jr.

Stanwood Henry Farrell Jr was born September 13th, 1929 to Sylvia and Stanwood Farrell Sr.  He had three sisters, Betty, Phyllis, and Sylvia. He spent most of his childhood in the small and charming town of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Stanwood discovered a lifelong love of aviation after flying his first plane in a small field in his hometown. After that experience he enlisted in the Air Force, which took him all the way across the pond to England. It was there in the United Kingdom that he met the wonderful woman who would be his wife of 67 years, Dolores Farrell. They had many adventures living in many different places, including Florida, Washington, and even Germany! From there they settled at McConnell Air Force Base, in Derby, Kansas. Over the years their family grew, and they had four children: Lisa, Cathy, Ruth, and Mark. The family spent many happy years in Derby.  In 1968, he retired from the military and re-entered civilian life. For his post Air Force career, Stanwood stayed in aviation and worked at the Gates Learjet Corporation. In his new role he was involved in flight operations and customer service. This next career brought the family to Tucson, Arizona. It was here he finished out his career at Learjet and transitioned into well- deserved retirement.

He had a passion for golf and loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Danielle, and Ashleigh. Stanwood was famous for the incredible fudge he made each Christmas, his highly entertaining stories from his countless Air Force adventures, and consistently winning at cards during family game nights.

Stanwood passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was generous, kind, and had a razor-sharp wit. He will always be remembered as a true and stalwart gentleman. Words cannot express how incredibly missed he is and always will be. Family and friends take comfort in the fact that he has been reunited with his beloved wife Dolores, and his son Mark.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no memorial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
