Thomas Taylor Jr.

Obituary of Thomas E. Taylor Jr.

Thomas Eugene Taylor, Jr. was born in Sullivan, Indiana on September 13th, 1947 to Thomas and Flossie Mae Taylor. Shortly after his birth, they moved to Tucson, Arizona where he lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Rincon High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army serving as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War.

After his time in the Army, Tom joined the Pima County Sheriffs Department as a Corrections Officer. He served the community over the next 25 yeas, rising through the ranks and eventually retiring as a Lieutenant.

He married his wife, Joan, on February 25th, 2000 and continued working and serving Pima County. In his later years, he enjoyed being a father, Papa, and husband to his family. He was an active member of his church and had a passion for serving the congregation and community. Tom went to be with the Lord on August 4th, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Joan, his 3 brothers, 8 children, and 14 grandchildren.

Tom was a teacher, mentor, and friend. He has left a hole in the heart of those who knew him and loved him. He loved greatly and sacrificed of himself for his family and friends. Tom strived to be an example of the love and grace that God had shown him. He fought to glorify God and make Jesus known. He will be greatly missed and as he always said, “Tom, we will see you in the movies…”

The family will be holding a memorial service at Pantano Christian Church on Saturday, August 22nd at 2pm.
