Obituary of Rex Edward Willoughby
Rex Willoughby passed quietly at home early Sunday morning, July 21, 2019 at the age of 86.
He served his country as an instructor pilot in the US Air Force after graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Architecture. He and his wife Carol settled in Tucson where they lived for 62 years. His architectural business, Blanton & Co., brought his contribution to the community through design work for the UofA, Tucson Unified School District, Pima Community College, Davis Monathan Air Force Base, and numerous commercial entities including Valley National Bank, IBM, and Golden Eagle Distributors. His company’s success enabled he and Carol to pursue their loves of boating, travel, their second home in Sonoita, and Rex’s passion of model trains.
He and Carol are survived by their son Chris and wife Julie, daughter Susan, grandson Philip Garrott and wife Kimberly and great-grandson Ryker. They are also survived by Rex's brother James and his wife Deb.
