Thank you for such a beautiful visual tribute and honor to the life of Matthew Welsh! Though I never met Matt, I cried all through it. I was struck by the clear devotion this family had for this young man! His life was rich, surrounded by angels who did everything possible that he might have a quality life, and after his parents’ passing, ( I DID know them), how his brothers carried on at seeing to his needs. What a treasure to the planet he was! Blessings to Nick and Vincent!

Hello All,
As many of you may know, my nephew, Matt Welsh, has been struggling with health issues the last several months with no improvement.
This past Monday night, February 18th, Matt’s struggle ended. He died in hospice care in Tucson. Of course, we are all sad but rejoice for Matt that he has joined his parents in that heavenly place he so well deserves. (Of course, if an afterlife is not on your radar, then one may take solace in knowing that Matt’s earthly struggle has ended.)
With the loss of Ida in 2012 and then Paul in 2016, Matt’s life took on a greater degree of change. He really missed his parents and, especially, Paul who, after the loss of Ida, took Matt almost everywhere he (Paul) went.
Matt loved painting and drawing and his cat and the Indy 500 (which he attended twice) and trains – most especially, engines – and pasta carbonara and lighthouses and pandas and other things I do not remember. Despite his incapacities, he knew a lot of ‘stuff’ and was happy to share it with you. One of my friends who was with him at the Indy 500 was amazed at how much he knew about auto racing and the 500 in particular.
One of my favorite memories of Matt is the opportunity Garrett was able to give him of driving. The infamous Gator – which we use on the farm to get off the main roads – was the perfect vehicle for Matt to drive. Paul told me later that this was one of Matt’s happiest experiences. The picture Garrett took said it all. If you asked Matt about it, he had a ‘light up the face’ grin to indicate how much fun it was for him.
Connie and Doug are leaving for New Zealand this week so we will be having his funeral in early April after they return.
Matt’s brothers, Vince and Nick, took excellent care of Matt. Who can ask more? Thanks to them, Matt was at peace.
Stephanie

his world had changed in recent years. Yet, those precious special memories, like the one you shared,
are what keeps one's memory alive in our hearts. They truly are the best things we have and thinking of
him smiling in the Gator will be one I will smile at! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Bonnie Carle Hello Stephanie, My apologies for the late condolences! What a wonderful tribute you gave to Matt. I so
admired the way Paul took him everywhere, that he was embraced by everyone in the family and had the
opportunities to truly enjoy so many of the things he loved doing. I remember having an enjoyable
conversation about "stuff" with him at one of your pre-hayride parties. It was obvious how much he
cared about you and Garrett. I would like to think he is happily riding all over that heavenly place on
a Gator, and will undoubtedly be looking down on the Indy 500 for years to come.
Mariana Rimoldi Sevellec Hello Stephanie, Thank you for this letter and my apologies for not writing any sooner. Of course,
Garrett informed me immediately about Matt's death and I also read many of the Facebook messages about
his passing. My heart and thoughts go out to you, Garrett, Connie, Vince, and Nick. I hope Matt rests
in peace with his Mom and Dad now. Thank you again for including me on your mailing list. Let's talk
soon. Lots of love from Lyon. Mariana & Boys
