Obituary of David "Red" Swingler
David "Red" Swingler, 61, passed away suddenly on February 2. He was born in Columbia, PA to Gayle (deceased) and Melvin Swingler. He graduated from Niwot High School in Longmont, Colorado. Red then served in the USMC for 8 years as an electronics specialist, rifle/pistol range instructor and barracks police sergeant. After the USMC he moved to Tucson in 1983 where he worked as a framer in construction; maintenance engineer in various apartment complexes and Catalina High School. Lastly, he thoroughly enjoyed a career as a cashier at Safeway, primarily at Tanque Verde/Sabino Canyon. He leaves behind his beloved wife and soul-mate Laura and precious and beloved daughters, Julia Swingler and Kate McCormick (Derek) of Tucson. A wonderful and loved grandson, Jack; parents Melvin and Becky Swingler; sisters Kathy Borenstein (Mike) and Paige O'Day (Jim) of Colorado; brother Rusty Carrillo (Kiersten) and many nieces and nephews. On February 2, he joined his precious mother, Gayle and sister, Beth in heaven. Red was best known as an outstanding father and friend to everyone he knew and met. He will be sorely missed.
