I had the privilege of meeting Colleen in 1999 when she hired me onto her staff on 420's. By reading the memoirs above she was beloved by her staff and many others who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had an effect on people with her mild and gentle presence. When I think of the face of TMC as a whole, her face is one that I equate with this organization. She had a great sense of humor. I remember on more than several occasions she would hide in the kitchen waiting to scare an unsuspecting staff member. Her smile was contagious. Colleen was always approachable and accessible. She was always there and that is what makes her passing personally tragic to me. She transcended herself to become a model of compassion and kindness to the benefit of herself and those around her. God created the world for people to be the recipients of his grace and I believe heaven is now graced with her presence. To her family I would like to say stay steadfast; God is nearer than near in this difficult time. She lived humanity to the fullest and she will surely be missed.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Mead

My deepest condolences to your family. Colleen was an AMAZING all around person, colleague, manager and friend. Everyone I run into here at TMC who knew her, has a great story, of how Colleen had gone out of her way at some point in their life to help them out. I remember working Rapid Response and sharing an office space with her. We would just talk about my kids and her grandkids and how much she absolutely adored them. I have never met a person who cared so much for her family, friends and co-workers the way she did. Colleen you are missed by many and will NEVER be forgotten. You have left an ever lasting legacy to all of us who knew you. To Colleens family, I am so so so so sorry for your loss. Kelly-Please know Mark and I are here for you if you need ANYTHING. Big Hugs!!!!

There is a star on my wall made out of grapevine and red berries with angels on each tip of the star . This was a gift from Colleen to me and it says "Angels Light the Way." Colleen lit the way as my manager and friend for many years.
On the back of my couch is another gift from Colleen -the softest velour blanket that gives warmth and comfort just like she always did! When my way was strained with striving, her way was calm and gentle. When my way had fear and anxiety, her way was of reassurance and blessing and trust.
We will never know all the seeds she planted with new hires that entered the monitor tech program with no skills or training and then were blessed with training, support, skills, who have continued in telemetry or moved on into other healthcare careers because of her vision to give, support, believe, and grow people with kindness and hope.
I will miss her tremendously but I have no doubt that she fulfilled her God given purpose and leaves a legacy of love.
God bless each family member and friend. She lives in our heart and in eternity.
WE love you Colleen- Brenda and Tom Carle

Colleen hired me in back in 2004. I had a language barrier; I was born in Mexico long time ago then I came to the States where I went to Nursing School. I had no experience as a nurse and Colleen interviewed me and gave me the job. .She believed in me... I have being working at TMC since after. Down the road I hurt my back and she help accommodating me in Central Monitors with no problem. She always treated me with respect and with big interest about my personal matters. She treated every one as well as me as an extended family. Always trying to help in any ways.
She was a beautiful person inside and outside.
She would be missed tremendously!
God wanted and another angel next to him.
Good bless you Colleen.
Rest in peace.
My prayers are for her family

My love and prayers go to all of you, at this time. Your Mom/Wife was a wonderful lady who dedicated her life to all of her family and friends. I also appreciated her dedication to and love of St. Joseph School. She and Mr. Horner will always have my respect and appreciation for all that did for us. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will not be able to attend the Mass, tomorrow. My weekly, volunteer day, at the Sheriff's Property and Evidence Department, was changed to tomorrow. They have over a week's worth of paperwork for me to organize, file, etc. With my husband's doctors' appointments, I can't attempt to change the day. With love and fond memories, Mrs. Kwader-Murphy

Dearest Horner family and friends,
News of Colleen's passing has left me and many others with heavy hearts and a tremendous sadness. The only good I can find out of her being taken so soon, is that she used her time on this earth to touch so many people in such a positive way.
Anyone who had the chance to have Colleen in their lives is truly fortunate. She came to me as an angel who opened the door at such a bleak time in my life and presented the opportunity for me to grow as a nurse. When I met Colleen, I was a new graduate nurse and doors were being closed in every which way as everyone wanted someone with experience. Colleen saw the good in me and gave me a chance to become the nurse I am today. She nurtured me, watched over me, extended her experience to me and most of all...believed in me. She never let me give up.
Universally, I believed people knew her as the one with the golden heart. She was truly a kind person and always had a smile on her face. Seeing her in the hallways of TMC always brought a smile to my face as well.
Yes, there are so many stories like mine and she will live forever in the halls at TMC. I will miss her.
RIP Colleen. You were loved by so many.
Sincerely,
Sondra Goza, RN

Colleen was such an understanding, loving and compassionate person. As a manager she showed compassion and flexibility with regard to life and always offered help. I lost my husband in June and the kindness she showed me was something I had never experienced from a previous manager. She was incredibly understanding and patient. I pray she was met with all the love and happiness she gave during her time here. Her family are in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss of such an amazing human being. Rest In Peace Colleen, you deserve it.

I am so sorry for your loss. Colleen had the biggest heart and will be missed by many people. I remember when I first met Colleen in 2002 as an agency Pct. From the first time I met her she was always smiling, kind, and approachable. She always was encouraging through nursing school, when I floated to her unit as a nurse and as her peer. She was always genuine and you could see how much her staff adored her. She always talked about her family and the love of her grandkids. I know she touched so many lives throughout her years. Prayers to all of her family.

The Horner Family,
Where do I start...My family and I have known Colleen for so long, and after all those years I still remember her voice, her smile, her laugh, and her constant love and support for not only her family, but with mine, and many others. She was always there to help. She was a great boss to me, and I always enjoyed just calling her extension to say, "what are you doing"? "do you have any candy in your office today?" She hardly addressed me as Ginger, but as "Big Hair", which caused many co-workers and doctors to do the same due to the amount of hair on my head. :)
When I told Colleen I was pregnant, I told her not to say anything, but most people who know Colleen very well, she wanted to shout the news..which she did over the 420's overhead speaker as she cried. I felt how happy she was for me, and she was also the first non-family member to come down after I delivered my son to check on us on a Saturday.
Colleen was a one in a million woman, and an outstanding nurse. She loved her family, she was so proud of her daughters, and she cherished her family and friends so much, and for this, none of us will never forget her. We will all embrace all the wonderful memories, and the unique bond we all had with her.
Sending love, hugs, and prayers to the family, and may you have strength during this difficult time.
Ginger J.
