William DeVoss

Obituary of William DeVoss

William DeVoss was born in Chicago, Illinois On May 17, 1927 and passed away on August 2, 2018 at the age of 91.  He was the son of Edward DeVoss and Agnes (McGill).  He was preceded in deatn by his wife, Lucille (Geertz) his sisters, Ethel DeVoss, Agnes (Gavalick), and Mary (Karalow) and by his brother Edward DeVoss.  He is the father of William DeVoss (Joyce) and grandfather of William Eugene DeVoss. 

As a young man, he worked with his father, Edward DeVoss, as a commercial fisherman on the Mississippi River.  He also worked with his father and brother, Edward, Jr. as a house painter and did numerous other labor jobs during his life. 

He spent the last 60 years of his life serving the Lord as an evangelist, traveling to more than 15 states, including Hawaii.  He went to Israel to visit the Holy Land twice.  During the past 4 years, he spent about 4 to 6 hours a day at Park Mall in Tucson, sharing the Gospel and encouraging people to find meaning in life through Christ.   Many of those encounters resulted in individuals accepting Jesus as Savior.
