Jeannette Wymer

Obituary of Jeannette Marie Wymer

Jeannette (Jan) Marie Wymer, 84, of Little Valley, NY, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2024.

Jan grew up in Salamanca, NY, where she resided most of her life on Central Avenue. After graduation from Salamanca High School, she completed Mohawk Airlines Flight Attendant Training. Her working career included Mohawk and Allegheny Airlines as a Stewardess, Ticket Agent and Reservations Agent. She also retired from NYS Division for Youth in Great Valley, NY, after over 30 years of service.

One of her greatest loves was her family. She married her high school sweetheart, Jack D. Wymer, on September 26, 1959. They celebrated their 64th Anniversary in September 2023. Their union was blessed with three children: Jacqueline (Brian) Clapp of Tucson, AZ; Joel S. Wymer of Dallas, Texas, and Julie (Johnny) Wilson of Mechanicsburg, PA. She was especially proud of her 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Marchese, Ryan (Ciera) Clapp, Sydney Wilson, and Serena Wilson. She was also so excited to become “GG” to her great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jonathan Marchese of Phoenix Arizona, and Owen Joel Clapp of Tucson Arizona. Family was her everything and she was everything to her family.

She also had a love of travel. She enjoyed planning and taking group trips to places like Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Mexico. She especially took great pleasure with the planning of family trips with her children, spouses, and grandchildren, including trips to California and Hawaii.

After their retirement, Jan & Jack became “Snow Birds,” spending the winters in Tucson, Arizona and the summers at their cottage at the Little Valley Rod and Gun Club. Jan filled her spare time keeping busy enjoying her many craft projects. She also served on The Board of Directors for eleven years at Far Horizons East, their retirement community.

Jan & Jack were members of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Salamanca and St. Francis de Sales in Tucson, where she volunteered at the Youth Office for two years.

Jeannette is survived by her husband, Jack, her brother, Richard Zurat (Susie) of Salamanca, Sister-in-Laws Janice Chamberlain (Allegany), and Rita Wymer (Salamanca). Also, several nieces and nephews including Richie (Lisa) and Kim (Edd) of Salamanca, and Melinda (Rick), Bob (Jody) and Scott (Kim) of Rochester. And a very dear, life long best friend, Marie Wunsch.
