Michael Moore

Obituary of Michael C. Moore

Michael Clokey Moore, 84, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on December 14, 2023. He was born on August 7, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Tucson in 1956.

He is survived by his daughters, Annalisa Moore Masunas (Mike) and Angela Cherie Moore; son, Christian Craig Moore; grandchildren, Alanna Michelle Masunas, Michael Moore Masunas, Tyler Masunas, and Aliyah Lewis; his brothers, Bill Moore, Edwin R. Moore III, (Madeleine), and Tim Moore; niece Lori, nephews Edwin, Clem, Cy, Russ, and Matt; his beloved cousins and their families in Italy; and his girlfriend, Stephanie.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle, his mother, Mary Clokey Ross, his father, Edwin R. Moore II, his brother, Tony Moore, and his first wife, Royanna Moore.

He was a 1957 graduate of Catalina High School, and a 1961 graduate from the University of Arizona. He later obtained a master’s degree from the University of Arizona. Mike was an active real estate broker up to the point he passed away, and helped many people buy and sell their homes for over 50 years in Tucson. He also taught Spanish and French at the college level, and was fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German (and spoke some Chinese as well).

Mike was a loving and involved father and grandfather, attending so many events for his children and grandchildren over the years. He was fortunate to enjoy some fun vacations with family over the years, including countless ski trips, and in more recent years, time in Illinois, a fun Hawaiian family vacation, Canada with Angela, and even Texas for Michael’s US National team football. Mike shared loving relationships with his family, and his advice and love will always remain. He was so proud of his daughters and son, as well as his grandchildren. Almost anyone he encountered would learn about his family, and family was always his focus.

Mike was very active, and while his earlier years were filled with tennis, skiing, golf, and tai chi, he picked up pickleball about 10 years ago and played almost daily. He loved playing, sharing the game with others, and was part of a loving pickleball community in Tucson. Mike’s love of tai chi began in the late 1970’s, and he taught tai chi for many years to countless people. He helped so many people with his tai chi background, and he knew it kept him active and young at heart. He was a scratch golfer in earlier years, and played weekly through most of this year. He loved to read books, play chess, and play cards, and whether he was playing Hearts, Pitch, Canasta, or Bridge, he was a card shark who was hard to beat. He believed in the power of prayer, had incredible intuition, and taught his children how to be aware, trust intuition, and rely on God.

Mike was very kind, always willing to help others, and had a great sense of humor. His smile would bring a smile to the faces of others, and his wisdom helped those who sought guidance. Mike made an impact on the lives of so many, and everyone who knew him will forever treasure all the wonderful memories of Mike. He leaves a legacy of love, resilience, and a profound sense of family values. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn him, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.

A memorial service celebrating Mike’s life will be held at Bring’s Eastside Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
