Obituary of Dorothy Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Dorothy "Dotty" passed on Aug 16th, 2016, in Tucson AZ at the age of 92. She was born in Jerome, AZ, the daughter of Rogers G. and Leah M. Munn. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Montgomery Sr., and their first son, William H. Montgomery Jr. She is survived by six of her seven children: Robert M. Montgomery, David M. Montgomery, Christopher D. Montgomery, Leah M. Starkey, Mary E. Spencer, and Rogers A. Montgomery, as well as Linda Montgomery, the widow of William Jr., 22 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. She graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1943. During WWII, Dorothy and her husband-to-be, William Sr., proudly served in the Army Air Corps. Then Dorothy became loving wife and mother in support of her husband Bill's 32-year military career. She enjoyed activities such as golf, bowling, softball, and volunteered at her children's schools, her parish, the Base Clinic and Thrift Shop, American Red Cross, and the Officers Wives Club. She encouraged her children to become active in church, school, and sports activities. Her lively and loving spirit will long be remembered by her relatives and friends. A memorial gathering will take place at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL (6910 E. Broadway) on Friday, August 26th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm with Honor Guard presentation of taps and flag. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th, 2016, at the DMAFB Chapel. Following the Mass is to be a gathering at the American Legion (5845 E 22nd St). Her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband's at Ft. Huachuca Post Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dorothy wished donations to be made to Wright Flight.
