Obituary of Barbara Yoder

Barbara (Barb) Yoder November 10, 1935 - November 3, 2016 Born in Chicago, Barb was a graduate of Austin High School and attended Bethel Evangelical Free Church. After moving to the West in the late 1950's, Barb fell in love with the West, its landscape, style and art. Returning to Illinois in the 1960's she moved to Bensenville where she began her dream of owning and running a women's clothing and jewelry boutique. There, in 1973, she began her business of Touch of Turquoise. When an opportunity to move to the Southwest again presented itself, she sold her clothing store, then Barb and family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1978. There she recreated her women's boutique and ran it and Touch of Turquoise until the late 1990's. Barb also gave of her time generously to the Saguaro National Monument East as a mounted patrol for many years on her faithful steed, Lucy. An avid horsewoman, she endeavored to ride in endurance races in various locations around Arizona. Loving people and outdoor activities, Barb enjoyed her employment for more than 25 years at the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch as concierge and became a member and mentor to the Southern Arizona Concierge Network. With her love of the West and all its style, Barb was a member of Friends of Western Art where she supported efforts to promote the awareness of art of the American West in Tucson and Southern Arizona through underwriting and educational programs. A member for more than 25 years of Christ Community Church, Barb was also an active participant in The Sojourners Bible Study. Waiting for her in her heavenly home are her mother, Nora Eckdahl and her sister, Maurine Guinta. She will be missed greatly by her daughters Christine (Scott) Logan and Susan Henderson and her grandchildren Tobi (Seth) Coulter and David Logan as well as by her niece, Jonine Kaufman and her great-nephews Adam Pickard, Matthew (Jessica) Pickard and great-nieces Allie Kaufman and Sydney Kaufman. A Celebration of Life and Memorial for Barb will be held at Christ Community Church (main chapel) at 2:00pm Saturday, November 12, 2016.
