Obituary of Joseph DeLara

Joseph DeLara Jr. passed away November 23, 2016. Joseph was born in Wailuku Maui July 15, 1936. We will celebrate his life December 17, 2016 3PM at Brings Funeral Home, Broadway and Kolb. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. Joseph is survived by his wife, Kathleen DeLara. His two daughters, Puanani Delara, husband Dave, and Luanna DeLara. He is survived by four brothers, Karl DeLara, best friend Nena, George DeLara, wife Dawn, Paul DeLara and Francis DeLara, wife Jane. Joe is survived by two sisters, Roberta Torrate, husband Gilbert, and Laura Oostema. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Joe has two living stepchildren, Joanne Hartman and Bobbi Prince. Stepson Larry Gordon predeceased him Joe was predeceased by parents, Joseph DeLara Sr. and Sarah DeLara. Beloved grandson, Scott DeLara and sister Annette Morisaki. In 1956 Joe joined the Air Force. He was promptly sent to Chicago to learn how to be a jet engine mechanic. He did 4 years in Vietnam. TS gt Joseph DeLara retired from active duty 1976. He went to work at Davis Monthan Air Force Base as a civilian jet engine mechanic until 2007. He worked sometime in that period at Lear Jet/Bombardier. His passion and favorite activity was hunting and fishing. We would fish together at Big Lake and Parker Canyon Lake. After a while he went with his fishing buddies. We would travel to Colorado to see his daughters and Maui to see his siblings. Joe was charismatic and people were drawn to him. He lived life his way and had a good time. He was a good man who loved his family and friends. He will be missed by all. I am relieved he is no longer in pain and I believe he is in a better place. Good bye sweet husband until we meet again.
